Sony Alpha 350 Photo Gallery

Sony Alpha 350 photo gallery : We have had the Sony Alpha 350 for a short period of time in our office and took it with us to shoot some sample shots in Amsterdam, location Artis Zoo. At this day it was cloudy with some rain showers and here and there some sun shine, therefore the butterfly garden is one of the best places to shoot some test photos. The Sony DSLR A350 was introduced at the PMA 2008 in Las Vegas, a big event which we visit every year. The Sony Alpha 350 offers Sonys new Quick AF Live View technology so you can frame photos and keep the fast auto-focusing speed common to other live-view systems. The new Sony A350 DSLR offers 14 Megapixels resolution and is one of the highest resolution DSLRs in this segment.

What in the World is Bokeh?

To explain Bokeh we need to understand DOF or Depth Of Field. DOF has two measurements one is the distance of the Focused area from the lens the second is the depth of the area in focus. The first is called DTF depth to field and the second is DOF or depth of field. To understand this two concepts the image below should help. The camera has three butterflies in front of it.

New Nikon Video: 154 Minutes of CLS Goodness

EDITOR'S NOTE: With all apologies to the Canon shooters who frequent this site: You really shouldn't even read this post. Seriously. Move it along. Nothing to see here...
_________

I have just finished watching an advance copy of Nikon's new DVD, Nikon School: A Hands-On Guide to Creative Lighting.

Short version: It is far and away the best resource available for those of you who want to better learn how to use your Nikon system strobes (SB-900, SB-800, SB-600, etc.) and Nikon's Creative Lighting System (CLS).  read more »

Your Photo: Our Critique

Untitled3 This photo was submitted by a proud parent on behalf of her 14-year-old daughter, Alexandra. For a beginner this is a great photo. It looks like the focus on the butterfly is a little soft, but its hard to tell with a small file.  The colors work nicely with the white dishes and the muted background. The dishes provide depth to the photo and contrast to the butterfly. Try cropping the dishes to the right out of the photo. Melissa Macatee Contributing Blogger This photo gets three stars on the PopPhoto Flash rating system. The PopPhoto Flash rating system.  read more »

Hiking, Greenberg and the steel cage grudge match

For some reason I have taken up hiking in my old age. I am up to 13 miles and hope to be up to 30 by spring. Today was like most hikes. For the first mile everything hurt and I wonder why I am wasting my time doing this. I am in preproduction on a job and have a bunch of bids out that need tending to. There has to be something more important for me to do. Lately I have been following the Greenberg situation too closely. Not since the APE entered the steel cage with Mrs. Broening has the photo blog world been all ahoo.  read more »
